Proddatur Arya Vysya Sabha Ammavarisala

History

Sri Kamishetti Chinnakondaiah, a native of Parlapadu village, located 10 miles away from Proddutur town, was in Madras on business when he had a dream in which Jaganmata Sri Kanyaka Parameswari Devi instructed him to build a temple, as she was about to incarnate in Proddutur town. Following this divine instruction, he returned to Proddutur and gathered a dedicated group of prominent members from the Hindu Arya Vysya community to help with the initiative.

Our temple, known as Proddatur Ammavarisala, was founded in 1890 under the auspices of the Arya Vysya Sabha. Since then, it has served as a central hub for spiritual and social activities within the community.

Since 1895, the Dasara celebrations at the Sri Kanyaka Parameswari Devasthanam have been held annually with great prestige, making them second only to those in Mysore in South India.

The Tower, also known as Alaya Gopuram, stands as a symbol of the glory of the Arya Vysya Community.
